One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Libby Coke, attended Jul 2026: Had a wonderful one to one session with Lisa on making the most of my sewing machine. Having used different sewing machines intermittently over the last 45 years, I now have a machine of my own that I wanted to use to it's full potential. Lisa was incredibly patient, reining me back in when I was getting too far ahead of myself. She is very knowledgeable and is happy to share that knowledge. I would highly recommend this course, especially if you are a beginner to using a sewing machine but also advanced sewing machine users would find this useful if they have digital machines they are struggling to find their way around. Would also be a great gift for youngsters showing an interest in sewing. Thank you Hobbycraft and special thanks to Lisa.

  • 5/5 from Jodie Philp, attended May 2024: One to one sewing machine workshop, but I loved the fact I could take a friend for An additional £5. Lisa was our teacher, she was friendly, super helpful and enthusiastic! Hobbycraft Chelmsford has a great vibe, the workshop area, although very public was bright, large enough and we weren’t disturbed! The machine I own was available to practise on but my friend bought her own which Lisa was more than happy with and got us both set up straight away! There were scraps of material for us to use to familiarise ourselves with our machines (both complete beginners) but Lisa also gave us some templates to take home and practise with and a little project. After today’s introduction to my machine, I now feel I can start doing simple projects with the support of Hobbycraft online videos and popping into store if needed. This is my second workshop and I would not hesitate to book one in again. Lisa was patient, personable and listened to what we needed from the session.
