What you'll do
Discover the traditional Chinese art of water marbling in Bristol and create unique, organic patterns by floating inks on water and then transferring them to paper or fabric. Come along and try this playful and experimental surface design technique, which encourages exploration, chance, and creative expression! This workshop is suitable for all experience levels and anyone aged 12 and above, making it a welcoming and accessible creative experience. You'll learn at your own pace in a supportive, relaxed environment. During the final part of the workshop, participants can choose to create their artwork on different types of paper (included in the price), or a blank silk scarf to complete a marbled textile piece during the session (£15 for a 30x30cm silk scarf, you will be contacted before the workshop to confirm whether you want this option).What to expect:
- Learn about the history, principles, and tools of water marbling.
- Watch demonstrations of three different pattern techniques.
- Enjoy plenty of hands-on time creating marbled designs.
- Create a final piece to leave to dry for collection.
- Choose to work on different types of paper (included) or purchase a blank silk scarf to marble (£15 extra).
- All tools and materials provided.
