One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Katherine Jayne Geraghty, attended Dec 2024: My teacher today was Chloe, and she taught me how to set up and use a sewing machine, along with styles of stitching etc. She was very friendly and easy to chat to, explained and demonstrated everything very clearly and helped me to also carry out the things she had showed me, answering all my questions in a kind and patient manner. I would definitely recommend a one to one lesson to anyone.
  • 5/5 from Eric Weir, attended Oct 2024: I was having trouble with my machine stitching materials and on attending the workshop with Cloe who show a very competent and comprehensive understanding of the machine and my problem with stitching, to then pass on a clear explanation, whilst showing me what the cause may be. This will enable me to resolve further issues should they occur at my home. The venue was good, warm and the lighting of the work space was good to see the operation of the machine. We were not distracted or interrupted by other customers or staff. As stated, I gained a better understanding of the mechanism of my machine through Cloe’s pleasant professional approach especially as she did not know fully what issues I had that she was going to have to solve. Well done to Cloe, would most definitely recommend this workshop. Too much came out of the workshop to say what I liked most as it fulfilled my needs completely.
  • 5/5 from Carol Aitken, attended Sep 2024: Lovely informative teacher. Well worth the money to regain my confidence. She found a similar machine to mine so I could start sewing again at home.

  • 5/5 from Kirsty Herd, attended Jul 2024: Tina was so helpful and kind throughout the workshop. My daughter was learning to make scrunchies and Tina patiently went through everything, was encouraging and taught her the skills she needed. Materials for the scrunchies were provided and my daughter was able to make some to take home.

  • 5/5 from Nicola, attended Jul 2024: I would thoroughly recommend this workshop. Having lost confidence in trying to use a sewing machine in secondary school Chloe was patient, friendly and definitely didn't make me feel foolish. I had a brilliant time, the workshop in my opinion is well worth the money it costs and I have come away much more enthusiastic and confident.
  • 5/5 from Audrey Ghanney, attended Jun 2024: A refresher on using a sewing machine and using a pattern for simple projects. Chloe was patient and inspirational. Thanks to her my sewing machine was retrieved from the loft today! I was able to easily set up and mend my son’s school trousers. Next, I’d get a pattern and start a project! Thank you
  • 5/5 from Vicky Trafford, attended Mar 2024: Had a fabulous sewing lesson with my granddaughter. She really enjoyed learning to sew. Great value for money, would highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Faith, attended Mar 2024: My husband bought this voucher for me for Christmas and I chose the class. I chose to learn how to read a pattern. Chloe was so kind and so helpful. She took all my measurements and showed me which measurements correlated to which area of the body. I took a pattern into the shop with me and we opened this out and Chloe helped with understanding how to find the right size to follow, explained a lot of the ‘jargon’ and then picked the tricker skill in my pattern (shirring) and showed me how to do this on the machine and then I had a go too. I left feeling super confident about starting my project, having never read a pattern before but being determined to start dress making for myself! Thank you so much to Chloe.
