Ring Carving Workshop

Try an ancient form of jewellery making in one of the UK's oldest cities!

3 hours Class size 1 to 2 guests       £145 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join this wax carving ring workshop in Winchester and learn the essential skills needed to shape a unique piece of jewellery that's later cast in solid silver.
During this three-hour session, you'll size your ring for a perfect fit and explore various tools and techniques to create a design you truly love. Your teacher will guide you through all the necessary equipment, cover important health and safety tips, and remain on hand to answer any questions. Before you head home, you'll decide on the final look of your piece, choosing between a sleek polished finish or a contemporary matte effect.
As the casting process happens off-site through a trusted specialist, there's a short wait while your wax creation is professionally transformed into silver. Once it's back at the studio, your teacher will add the final touches based on your preferences, and you can then arrange for collection or delivery of your handcrafted treasure.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have mastered the art of carving a bespoke wax mould. A few weeks later, you'll receive your finished silver ring, a custom-made keepsake that serves as a sparkling reminder of your new-found skills.
Note: Silver casting up to 10g and finishing costs are included in the price. If you’d like a ring with a higher finished weight, you will be able to pay an additional amount to cover this. If you’d like to see examples, please get in touch.
What you'll get
By the end of the session, you'll have created a wax ring made to your specifications. In a few weeks' time, it'll be cast in silver and returned to you.

I've been making jewellery using a variety of different techniques since I was 12. As soon as I had the chance to study the subject further, I went to a creative arts university, and in 2019 I graduated with a BA in Jewellery from UCA Farnham. I have been teaching since 2020, as well as exhibiting my work up and down the country, and internationally. The pieces I have created have been featured in multiple publications and received a few awards. My latest accomplishment is that I am now a member of the Homo Faber Guide.
