What you'll do
Looking for a way to unwind with a satisfying hobby? Join your expert carving teacher in Staunton Harold and learn how to craft spoons and knives by hand.
This series of two wood workshops will introduce beginners and improvers alike to some fun and relaxing wood projects. With plenty of guidance along the way, you will be practising a few different techniques to help you develop your understanding of timber and woodworking tools.
You will get a detailed look at greenwood spoon carving, learning how to craft some more complicated spoons and diving into more topics like spoon design and the best oils to use to protect them. You will also be brushing up on your woodworking skills like how to carve more efficiently and how to care for and sharpen tools. As well as spoons, you will also get to give knife making a go!
By the end of this two-day course, you will take home all of your finished creations and loads of amazing knowledge so you can keep carving at home.

We have been running courses in our woodland workshop for over 25 years. The course centre is set in a beautiful 90-acre wood in the National Forest on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border.
