3 hours Class size 2 to 5 guests

£40 - £65 (£40 for Adult; £65 for Adult and one child) (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join this crochet bag making workshop in Wolverton and create a stylish and practical accessory from scratch. Spread over two sessions, this course is designed to guide you through the process of making granny squares and assembling them into a finished bag.
This class is perfect for those who have already dipped their toes into the world of crochet who would like to perfect the basic granny square or to stretch themselves by making more advanced granny squares which incorporate a variety of stitches.
In part one, you will focus on mastering the granny square. You'll learn how to:
  • Confidently make a basic granny square
  • Make double treble, puff and cluster stitches (for the sunburst granny square)
  • Make a standing starting stitch
  • Make an invisible join
  • Make colour changes
  • Continue rows in the same colour
  • Finish off loose ends
To make a finished bag you will need to complete thirteen granny squares in total. During this class you are unlikely to finish more than two or three. If you wish to make a bag, you will need to complete the rest at home, before coming to Part 2 to complete your bag.
Classes are kept small to ensure everyone receives plenty of attention in a comfortable home setting. All materials needed, including 300g of Aran weight yarn, a 5mm hook, a wool needle, and patterns for basic and sunburst granny squares (and handles) are included. You'll also be treated to homemade cake and refreshments to keep you going.
Please note:
  • This class is suitable for both right and left-handed students.
  • Please let your teacher know of any dietary requirements before the class starts.
  • There is an excitable chocolate Labrador at the venue; please consider this if you have allergies or are not comfortable around dogs.

  • 300g of acrylic yarn in five colours to complete your bag.
  • 5mm crochet hook
  • A needle for sewing wool
  • Sundrop Flower Granny Square Bag pattern from cotton pod (RRP £3.50)
By the end of Parts 1 and 2 of this class you will have made your very own crochet bag to take home.

My name is Sandra and I learned how to knit when I was seven. I have a very vivid memory of standing in the school playground knitting needles in my hands and a ball of wool in my pocket! Crochet came a bit later when I was twelve, with a baby blanket.
Later, I got interested in visible mending and added the Japanese mending technique of Sashiko to my existing darning skills, enabling me to repair a very wide range of holey textiles!
Being creative helps me feel good about life and I love to help others find ways of expressing their own creativity too. I take great pleasure from seeing students progress and in their joy at their achievements.
I teach crochet, darning and knitting in classes of up to five people. I also offer one-to-one tuition at £20 an hour.
