  • 5/5 from Alice Miller, attended Aug 2026: Anita was fabulous! My husband and I enjoyed our class very much. I spoke with Anita before the class and she tailored the menu not only to our dietary needs but also our interests. Her kitchen is a lovely, welcoming space where we were able to interact easily, with the conversation flowing about the cuisine, the techniques and ways to recreate the experience at home. There were a few treats along the way and we came home with a banquet! We would highly recommend the experience and encourage those who book for the experience to take lots of Tupperware to bring your food home. Thanks Anita (and your daughter who's name I am afraid I didn't catch) we had a lovely time.
  • 5/5 from Julia Railson, attended Oct 2025: Great evening. Lovely environment and knowledgable teacher. Food was delicious. Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Chris Geddes, attended May 2025: Lovely venue, great teacher, amazing food. Lovely afternoon in good company. Really enjoyed it.
  • 5/5 from Maia Kerr, attended May 2024: I attended this class as a gift from my daughter for my birthday and loved it. The lady and her daughter were very welcoming, lovely and very informative. Everything was well set out and clear with easy to follow instructions. The lady was helpful in explaining and showing you what to do before but also with the independence of preparing the food yourself. The venue was clean and set up nicely with everything you need. Would definitely recommend. The food was delicious.
  • 5/5 from Nicola Graham, attended Mar 2024: Class was a birthday gift for me. Had a wonderful time with Anita, supported by her husband, Ambar. Everything was provided to prepare your meal, all included in the class price (they even provided some cartons to bring our food home in after we failed to bring any tupperware containers). Anita was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and hands on in assisting. Venue was spotless and very modern. It all felt very relaxed and we were offered refreshments throughout the class. Best part was enjoying our hard work when tucking in to our food at home once the class had finished. Would 100% recommend this class to others.
  • 5/5 from Keith Knowles, attended Mar 2024: This was a 70th birthday present, the teacher was very informative and interesting. The venue was superb and all the materials were of the highest standard. I Lear t a better way of Indian cooking and the way spices could be used. Great value for money. I liked everything about this experience and will recommend it to all my friends and family.

Meet Anita from Hobby Cooks
Hello! I’m Anita, and I’m delighted to welcome you to Hobby Cooks, my family-run cooking school set in our purpose-built kitchen at home. At Hobby Cooks, our mission is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cooking and create lasting memories together.
Our classes are relaxed and informal—just like cooking with friends and family. I believe that food is more than just a meal; it’s a story. That’s why I love sharing the history and traditions behind each dish, bringing authentic recipes from my own home and heritage to yours. Every session is a chance to connect, swap food stories, and celebrate the flavors that make each culture unique.
We focus on traditional and authentic recipes, especially from Asian cuisines, using simple, accessible ingredients. I’m passionate about showing how herbs and spices not only add incredible flavor but also offer wonderful health benefits. Throughout our classes, I share tips on how to use these natural ingredients to create healthy, delicious meals that nourish both body and soul.
With experience in the hospitality industry and teaching at various cooking schools, I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge that I’m excited to pass on. Our purpose-built kitchen is designed to be welcoming and practical, making it easy for everyone to get involved, no matter their skill level.
At Hobby Cooks, we keep things simple and personal. My goal is to inspire you to cook from scratch, enjoy the process, and feel confident in your own kitchen. I look forward to sharing my passion for food, culture, and healthy living with you—and to us cooking and learning together!
