One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Adrian Thornton, attended Jul 2025: Money well spent. A very worthwhile and interesting hour. I’ve not used a sewing machine for almost thirty years and needed advice around my new machine I’ve just recently bought from Hobbycraft. Also how to put in a zip as this has always got me in a tizzy. I loved the little snippets of advice and simple do’s/dont’s which were very informative. A fun, friendly and relaxed hour giving me confidence to get back into sewing again. And I came straight home and put a new zip in my other half’s hi-viz work jacket. If I’m going to tackle any projects that I need advice or help with in the future. I’ll definitely be back. xxx
  • 5/5 from Kira Daly, attended Jul 2025: I had a one to one sewing workshop being totally brand new to machine sewing and wanting to learn the basics. I was shown everything I needed to know and given plenty of opportunity to practice and ask questions.
  • 5/5 from Pamela Hudson, attended May 2025: I had never even sat in front of a sewing machine before so the lesson I need was a very basic one. Frankie took it back to the beginning and showed me how to thread the machine, letting me have a few goes. We then did some sewing practice and she showed me all the options on the machine. I said I would possibly be interested in buying a machine, but the one we were using was out of my price range, so she got one that was more suitable, and we did some work on that too. I did purchase on the day and once I have practiced at home, I may come back to have further lessons when I want to learn more skills. Frankie was very patient and informative.
  • 5/5 from Emilia Jochymek, attended Apr 2025: Amazing class. Got it for my 12 year old daughter as she loves learning cratfs and arts. The lady who lead the class Anu in Blackpool Hobbycraft is very professional and it was a pleasure to learn from her.

  • 5/5 from Marian Saunders, attended Feb 2025: Hope was very helpful and took time to explain and demonstrate everything. She answered all my questions and I now feel more confident in attempting a sewing project. I then bought a Singer machine whilst there from Owen who was equally polite and helpful. Definitely a great experience all round.

  • 5/5 from Jo, attended Jan 2025: Absolutely loved the class. Started on time and i got the full hour. Anu was absolutely lovely, so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She showed me how to start from scratch and let me copy and have a go. I felt so confident when I left that I can carry on at home and carry on sewing
  • 5/5 from Mary Whittaker, attended Jan 2025: It was an excellent session, I needed to brush up on how to put a zipper foot into the machine and how to use it. The young lady who guided me through was really helpful, she explained and showed me how to use the zipper foot and I had several goes of putting a zip on. I came away feeling empowered and able to tackle zips with zipper foot. I would like to say a big thank you to my teacher guide.
