Textured Ceramic Plant Pot Workshop

Discover the joy of working with clay in a welcoming pottery class in Saltford, where you’ll learn pinch pot techniques and coils to make your own plant pot. You’ll also explore how to add texture to your piece, creating a unique handmade object to take home once it has been glazed and fired.This workshop is suitable for beginners, so you don’t need any previous pottery experience. Through 2 hours of guided instruction, you’ll be shown how to shape and build your plant pot step by step. You’ll have plenty of time to work at your own pace, and you’ll be supported throughout the activity if you need a little extra guidance or reassurance.The class is held in my riverside studio, offering a calm and friendly setting in which to learn. You’ll work with clay using your hands and simple pottery tools, experimenting with pinch pot techniques, coils and texture. The process can feel wonderfully grounding and creative, giving you the opportunity to switch off, try something new and enjoy making something with your hands.During the class, you will:

• Learn how to make a plant pot using pinch pot techniques and coils
• Explore different ways to add texture to your piece
• Receive 2 hours of guided instruction
• Choose a glaze colour for your finished piece
• Have your plant pot painted with your chosen glaze before being fired in the kiln

Your piece will be glazed and fired after the class, so it will not be ready to take home on the day. It will be ready to collect 2–4 weeks later, once the kiln-firing process is complete. You’ll then have a personal, functional piece of pottery to enjoy at home – a lasting reminder of a relaxing and rewarding creative experience.
