One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

I may not be a star now but I feel more confident to begin. • 3/5 from Vickie Washbourn, attended Oct 2021: I had my one to one with Tom who was lovely. Only thing was that I spent most of the time waiting for him to find basic things that were needed e.g. cotton and a button (that we didn't even use!). If it wasn't for the fact I was waiting around so much the one to one session would have probably only lasted 15 minutes max. Apart from refreshing my memory of setting up a machine and how to use the button hole feature it wasn't really worth the £10 for the session. I will probably just use YouTube in future if I want to know anything else.
  • 5/5 from Lynn Jones, attended Aug 2021: Loved my lesson, the tutor Tracy was very knowledgable and friendly couldnt have asked for a better person She helped me a lot and even helped me into the store with my machine And put it back in my car after.as I walk with a stick I was very grateful The shop was very clean And well stocked.
  • 5/5 from Lisa Doyle, attended Aug 2021: Learnt how to thread my new machine and how to do basic sew stitch. Used a sample that was provided to practice in straight lines. Tracy was absolutely lovely and made me feel at ease so thank you. Would definitely do another.
  • 4/5 from Kathleen Gardner, attended Aug 2021: Teacher was very pleasant and helpful. Depending on what your sewing needs are maybe a longer session would be useful.
