What you'll do
In this exciting workshop, participants work together to create props, build a set, and bring everything to life through the magic of stop-motion animation. The group is split into small teams, with each team responsible for a different production task.One group will decorate and build small wooden race cars, while another larger group will work with the tutor to design and construct the race track and background set.Stop-motion animation works by photographing tiny movements between each frame. We will set up three cameras to capture the action, which will then be arranged into animated scenes.Once scenes are arranged into a sequence, sound effects and music are added to finish the animation and bring the race to life.This workshop develops teamwork, planning, and creative problem-solving, while giving participants a fun and engaging introduction to animation.It is ideal for children’s workshops, but also works brilliantly as an adult social or team-building activity.Book your spot at one of our public sessions, or hire us to deliver this workshop at your school, office, venue, or event.

Founder/ Tutor Profile My name is Michael, and I’ve been passionate about art for as long as I can remember. According to multiple family sources, I began drawing on paper, walls, tables and just about any surface I could find from a very young age.I attended Marriotts High School in Stevenage before following my passion for art at Coventry University, where I studied illustration and animation, graduating with a First Class Degree.After studying illustration and animation at Coventry University, I launched MKcaricatures in 2015, specialising in live event drawing. Over time, I expanded the business to include my now Award-Winning Wedding Stationery service, commercial illustration, and personalised gifts. I also gained valuable tutoring experience at North Hertfordshire College and Coventry University, which inspired me to begin offering creative workshops for children, schools, and businesses.I’ve led creative team-building workshops for Microsoft and delivered drawing sessions for students at the prestigious Oxford University. In 2025, I launched Milton Keynes Art Club in partnership with Best Western Moore Place Hotel. MK Art Clubs ProfileMK Art Clubs inspires creativity through a balance of guided and independent art and craft activities.
