Come and join me for three fun, friendly in-person crochet workshops designed to help you progress from beginner to confident maker. Each session will last three hours, including a refreshment break, and the sessions will run over three consecutive weeks. In total, you’ll enjoy nine hours of guided crochet tuition.
What you’ll learn:
  • How to hold your hook and yarn comfortably
  • How to make the basic crochet stitches, including chain, slip stitch, double crochet, half treble, treble, and double treble
  • How to make decorative stitches, such as puff and cluster stitches
  • How to make both basic and sunburst granny squares
  • Different techniques for joining granny squares
  • How to finish your granny squares with a decorative border
  • Finishing rows, the invisible join, standing starting stitch, and colour changing
  • How to follow basic crochet patterns and stitch charts
Workshop setting
I run my workshops at my home in Wolverton, Milton Keynes. Class sizes are limited to five people, so we can sit comfortably around a table together and I can ensure that everyone receives the help they need.
What you’ll take away
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with your own unique crochet creation — most likely a cloth or flannel, or perhaps something larger if you have time to crochet between sessions.
Who this workshop is for
This workshop is ideal for complete beginners, as well as anyone who has started crocheting but would like a confidence boost before continuing independently. These workshops are suitable for both right- and left-handed students.
A note before you book
Please be aware that I have an excitable chocolate Labrador who will want to say hello when you arrive, before settling down on the sofa soon afterwards. If you are allergic to dogs or not especially fond of them, please consider this carefully before booking.
Please subscribe to my mailing list if you want to receive information on new courses, offers and discounts.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
What you'll get
A crochet hook and yarn (sufficient for your needs during the class), and refreshments (including homemade cake) will be provided. Please let me know in advance if you have any special dietary needs.
Knowledge required
None. This class is suitable for both those with no experience in crochet and those with some experience who want to build their confidence.
What to bring
Nothing, everything you need is provided

Hello, my name is Sandra. I learned to knit when I was seven and still remember standing in the school playground with knitting needles in my hands and a ball of wool in my pocket. I discovered crochet at twelve, starting with a granny square blanket.
Later, I became interested in visible mending and added the Japanese technique of Sashiko to my darning skills, allowing me to repair a wide range of worn and holey textiles.
I love teaching and sharing my creative skills. Seeing students’ enjoyment when they learn something new is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Whenever possible, I use pre-loved materials in both my own work and my classes. My darning and embroidery threads, buttons, knitting needles and some of my yarns are second-hand, which helps me reduce waste, live more sustainably and keep costs down.
I teach crochet, darning and knitting in small classes of up to five people. I also offer one-to-one tuition at £25 for the first hour and £15 for each additional hour in the same session.
