Recycled Paper Making Workshop

Give your old junk mail a new lease of life at this recycled paper making class!

2 hours Location Worthing Class size 1 to 4 guests   £34

Gather up all the scrap paper, junk mail and old bills you have — this papermaking class in Worthing is here to give them a new life as something beautiful and useful!
Hosted by Wendy, a lifelong crafter, you'll learn how to turn scrap paper into gorgeous, bespoke decorative paper. You'll begin by making your own mould and deckle — two essential bits of kit for making your own paper — before making several sheets of your own paper.
Using a variety of inclusions, including dried flowers, leaves, eco-glitter, even seeds that will grow when you plant your paper, you'll design your paper to suit your own needs, whether you want to make some homemade greeting cards, wrapping paper, or just want to display it as a piece of art in its own right.
It doesn't matter if you're completely new to papermaking, or even crafts in general, as Wendy will be behind you every step of the way to make sure you leave with some paper you can be proud of, along with the skills and equipment to carry on the hobby yourself at home.
What you'll get
  • All the materials and tools to make four pieces of recycled paper, plus your mould and deckle to let you make more at home.
  • A booklet of information to help you make more at home.
  • Tea and coffee provided!

  • 5/5 from Flora Aubrey-Thomas, attended May 2024: Wendy was so kind, knowledgeable and supportive through the workshop. Not only did we all have a great natter and a delicious cup of tea, we also made some truly beautiful pieces of recycled, floral, herbaceous paper. Thank you so much for your hospitality and guidance, Wendy. I can’t wait to come back and learn more! Flora x
  • 5/5 from Jane Wharmby, attended Apr 2024: I really enjoyed the class. Wendy was a great teacher and the venue is really welcoming, and full of interesting crafty things. It was eye-opening to see how lovely and varied papers could be made from the contents of my paper shredding bin. I left filled with inspiration and skills to make paper from recycling materials and found items from nature. A wonderful way to spend the afternoon - thank you Wendy.
  • 5/5 from Ruth Barker, attended Nov 2023: Thoroughly enjoyable workshop with all materials supplied and patient instruction will definitely do another workshop here
  • 5/5 from Nessa Hubbard, attended Sep 2022: We had a wonderful experience, a lovely gentle time together for our first wedding anniversary making paper. We made our own deckle and then made new paper from Old, choosing from a colourful and fragrant array of additions - lavender, poppyseeds and hibiscus flowers; glitter, skeleton leaves and cornflowers. We had plenty of time to make 4 or 5 pieces of paper which allowed us to fully learn the steps required without being rushed, and we took our creations home carefully laid flat in a folder. I can’t wait to try out the mosaic class here.
  • 5/5 from Gail Sawyer, attended Jun 2022: What a fantastic class - we had no prior experience, everything was provided and Wendy was an absolute star Definitely be back :-)
