Stained Glass and Driftwood Hanging Workshop

Create a beautiful hanging piece that brings the natural world to life at this hands-on stained glass workshop in Bristol. You'll be introduced to the copper foil technique, a rewarding method that's slightly different from traditional approaches and creates stunning, intricate pieces.You'll begin by selecting your coloured glass, learning how to choose tones that work together, then move into cutting – discovering that glass is far more workable than you'd expect. With a pattern guiding you, you'll cut out your chosen design, whether that's a flutter of butterflies, delicate leaves, or dragonflies caught mid-flight. Then comes the soldering – using a heated iron to join the copper-foiled edges together. It sounds daunting, but your teacher will make it feel completely manageable, breaking it down into straightforward steps. An extraction fan is provided to keep the air clear, and gloves and masks are available if you'd like to use them.The full-day workshop runs from 10am to 4pm with a proper break for lunch. You'll have plenty of time to work without rushing, creating something truly special. The park setting adds to the whole experience – there's a café on-site for refreshments and cakes, or bring your own lunch and enjoy the outdoor spaces. Shops are just a 10-minute walk away if you fancy a wander during the break.Once your pieces are complete, you'll attach them to your driftwood using chain, twine, or ribbon – choosing the method that feels right for your design. The result is a one-of-a-kind, light-catching decoration that celebrates nature and showcases your new skills.Please note: this workshop uses solder which contains lead, so it's not suitable for pregnant women. An extraction fan is provided, and gloves and masks are available should you wish to use them.
