Aluminium Jewellery Making for Beginners Workshop

A jewellery workshop where you will learn how to create stunning lightweight jewellery using aluminium.

6 hours Class size 1 to 3 guests       £165

In this lively Aluminium Jewellery workshop, you will learn how to create a variety of stunning effects for contemporary jewellery using aluminium, a fascinating and lightweight material that will keep its bright colours over time. We’ll explore the endless possibilities of pattern and colour using stamping, dip dyeing, and forming techniques. Students will use pre-anodised sheets to create lots of colourful samples ready to turn into a cuff and, if time allows, a pair of earrings or a pendant.
Your Tutor: Trisha Smith started her jewellery journey here with CSSJ as a student 10+ years ago when the school was first founded and has been a regular fixture ever since. Through a combination of weekly classes and masterclasses, Trisha has built both her technical skills and her distinctive voice in her jewellery collections as White Loch Jewellery. Trisha has travelled to London to train with the well-known aluminium jewellery designer Lindsey Mann and is now CSSJ’s expert in all things bright and light!
We’ll provide all the materials you will need to start your aluminium journey! While we do not have a dedicated lunch area, you are welcome to eat at your desk, and we can also recommend nearby places to eat if you prefer. Please note that classes may be cancelled if there are insufficient bookings. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, you will be notified the day before the scheduled class and will receive a full refund.

Hi, I'm Jo, founder of Central Scotland School of Jewellery.
I started making jewellery because I loved the combination of creativity and problem-solving. Jewellery has an amazing way of turning simple materials into something people treasure, and I still find that just as exciting today.
In 2016, I founded Central Scotland School of Jewellery in Dunblane with the aim of making jewellery-making welcoming and accessible to everyone. Since then we've introduced thousands of people to the craft, from complete beginners making their very first ring to experienced jewellers developing specialist skills.
One of the things I'm most proud of is the team we've built. Alongside my own teaching, our workshops are delivered by a carefully selected group of experienced jewellers and specialist tutors, each chosen for their expertise and their friendly, supportive approach. Every tutor teaches to the same high standards that we've developed over the last ten years, so whichever workshop you join, you'll be in expert hands.
The best part of my job is watching someone arrive saying, "I'm not creative, " and leave a few hours later wearing something they've made themselves. That moment of surprise and pride never gets old.
Alongside running the school, I've taught at university level, worked with various national craft organisations, and regularly collaborate on projects that help make jewellery education more accessible.
Whether you're joining us for a fun day out, celebrating a special occasion or discovering a new hobby, we'd love to welcome you to the bench.
