6 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests

£30 - £85 (£30 for 1-day Concession (1 day only); £40 for 1-day General (1 day only); £50 for 1-day Pay-it-forward (1 day only); £55 for Full Weekend Concession (SAT and SUN); £70 for Full Weekend General (SAT and SUN); £85 for Full Weekend Pay-it-forward (SAT and SUN))

Don't have your own sewing machine? Working on a project too big for your kitchen table? Is your dream garment a bit too next level for your current skill set? Or just want to sew in company?
Our sewing weekender is your opportunity to get stuck in and use our sewing studio and equipment for your own project. We'll be on hand all weekend to help, provide expert guidance and tips, and share our best sewing hacks with you.
You can bring a project you're already working on, something completely new to try out, or that project that has been gathering dust for months because you haven't finished it (we've all been there!). Or you can upgrade a garment you already own.
What you can bring:
  • Pick up where you left off on something you already started at home.
  • Start something new, e.g. bring a fabric and a pattern.
  • Alter, upcycle, or repair an item from your wardrobe.
What we'll offer:
  • 5 Standard computerised sewing machines
  • Overlocker for finishing and working with stretch materials
  • Steam iron/ironing board
  • Everything you need for cutting out fabrics and patterns (including mats and rotary cutters)
  • Measuring tools and paper to create your own pattern pieces
  • Help and tips from sewing experts
You'll also be able to purchase products from our reclaim shop (filled with secondhand fabrics and reclaimed haberdashery), and we'll be providing basic equipment and materials such as thread, pins, needles, etc.
You can opt for the full weekend or one day. At checkout, make sure you choose the right option.
Rethrindle's aim is to make sewing inclusive and accessible to everyone. This is why we try to make our workshops as affordable as possible. A limited number of concession spaces are available for each of our workshops.
If you can, please consider getting a pay-it-forward ticket - every pay-it-forward ticket purchased enables us to offer another concession space for someone who needs it.
What you'll get
the chance to use a fully equipped sewing studio and get guidance on their projects from expert sewists!
Knowledge required
Please note, this experience is NOT suitable for beginners. We expect participants to know how to use a sewing machine and have at least a basic understanding of sewing and their project. However, this is the perfect opportunity if your next project feels a bit next level and you need some guidance and support to get you started.
What to bring
A project to work on -- this could include, but is not limited to, fabrics, patterns, trims, your favourite pincushion that you can't live without.

Rethrindle CIC
Rethrindle CIC

female Women-owned

Rethrindle CIC is a social enterprise run by Meret and Lisa. Our mission is to upskill Bristol in sewing and mending and promote a creative approach to caring for your clothes. We are female-run, queer and neurodivergent, which informs our practices and workshops. We run the Slow Fashion Studio, a workshop space, reclaim shop and repair studio based in Sparks, Bristol. We host clothing repair and upcycling workshops and offer repair and alteration services alongside our shop selling reclaimed fabrics and haberdashery.
In our workshops, our focus lies on letting your creativity roam free, helping you engage with your clothes differently and, of course, sharing with you our skills and many years of experience in sewing and mending.
Meret started Rethrindle in 2023. She has been sewing since she was a teenager and has a degree in fashion design and a master's in social entrepreneurship. Rather than creating her own fashion brand and producing clothes, Meret decided that she wanted to share her skills locally and encourage mending and creativity. In 2025, she was joined by Lisa, founder of the Brand Rebel Patch, and together they aim to create an inclusive space for the Bristol community to learn, create and inspire one another. Between the two of them, they have upskilled over 400 people in mending and sewing and have gained and passed on a variety of textile skills.
