What you'll do
We often get asked if we offer 1:1 sewing tuition, so we have decided to offer these when there's time. Book a timed slot in the studio with a professional tutor and work on your own project. You may need support with working out how to get a good fit, you may need time to practise, or not have enough space and peace and quiet at home. We can even take you to a local fabric shop for a spot of shopping! Whatever the reason, the session should get you sewing again with clarity and confidence. We supply sewing machines and equipment.

Had a brilliant time, learnt loads an abi was patient, she took her time to explain. I would recommend Stitch And Sew for all your sewing needs.

The session started with learning more about using a sewing machine and started doing some straight stitches. Abi was very patient and explained all very well to me: how to measure, iron, cut, pin my fabric, etc. It was a very relaxed session which I enjoyed a lot and Abi made it very pleasant. I didn’t realise the time was flying buy and even went over my allotted time (thank you for the patience again, Abi)! Would definitely recommend and return for more practice!

The Stitch and Make studio sits in the heart of Northampton boot and shoe quarter. It is on the top floor of this remarkable Victorian building that youll find Abi's studio.In a freelance career spanning 4 decades Abi has traveled the world as a costume supervisor, worked back stage with Rod Stewart, Pink, The Stereophonics and Smashing Pumpkins to name just a few as well as designing and making costumes for production companies.At home in her studio she designs, pattern cuts and makes a range of one off pieces from old and repurposed fabrics. Often featuring surface design and hand embroidery these are sold at customer facing textile fairs such as Selvedge, Compton Verney and Sunnybank Mills. Abi is an advocate of the slow fashion movement
