What began as a simple love for plants when I moved into my first flat in 2021 soon blossomed into something much bigger. After attending a terrarium workshop in 2022, I was completely captivated by creating these miniature worlds — so much so that by 2023, I had decided to start a little business. Originally called 'The Tiny Rainforest'.
Not long after starting this journey, I discovered I was pregnant with my daughter. Naturally, motherhood took centre stage, and my creative pursuits were put on pause.
When she became a little older, I’m returned to this venture and renamed it 'Bottled Botanica'. I wanted to start building this business again as it's something that I can weave around my life as a muma. I am so grateful that I get to bring my daughter along for the adventure.
In the first six months of returning to the business, I have traded at various events, held two terrarium workshops for adults and one for children.
This is no longer just about creating living art; it’s about nurturing connection, creativity, and calm in our busy world. Plants are more than just something beautiful to look at — they nourish the mind, body, and soul.
My vision started with something simple - creating terrariums and sharing them with others. It's quickly expanded into so much more. I have revisited some of my favourite creative outlets from my childhood, and now combine them with my adult obsession with plants. That's why in June 2026 I had a rebrand (yes another one!) to 'The Ivy Effect'.
This rebrand is special and by far my most favourite. It has layers of meaning behind it.
Ivy is known for its resilience and ability to grow in all kinds of conditions. When I think of my business, I see it growing no matter what. Expanding against the odds. My vision is for this business to grow beyond measure. With workshops and events of all kinds to help people reconnect with nature and themselves.
My hope is that my business will have an ‘ivy effect’ on everyone it touches - even just in the slightest way.
