Botanical Painting Class: from Impression to Expression

A botanical-themed painting workshop taking inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

2 hours Class size 1 to 10     label £40

Join us for an immersive two-hour workshop that begins with a single flower and blossoms into a stunning painting. In this creative journey, participants will explore various techniques with our experienced and talented artist Rowena Comrie to capture the essence of nature's beauty.

We'll start by sketching a simple outline of our chosen flower, focusing on its unique shapes and details. From there, we'll use pattern-making techniques, using our initial drawing as a template to create intricate designs on a larger scale. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different colours and textures, allowing them to express their own interpretation of growth and energy in nature.

Alternatively, for those drawn to the allure of watercolours, we'll guide you through the process of completing your single flower drawing with this versatile medium. Drawing inspiration from renowned artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh, we'll explore techniques to infuse your painting with vibrancy and life, echoing the timeless beauty found in floral artworks.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or just beginning your creative journey, this workshop offers a space for exploration, experimentation, and inspiration. Come discover the joy of translating nature's wonders onto canvas and unlock your inner artist's potential.
