The sewn boards binding is an excellent starter book for beginners as well as those with some experience under their belts. It’s decidedly modern in construction but with a nod to classical bindings in its aesthetics!
By the end of this class, you’ll leave with a book entirely of your own creation – and some cool new bookbinding skills too!

Hello! I’m a self-proclaimed book nerd. And proud of it. I'm a professional bibliopegist, which means that bookbinding is my pastime, but it’s also my passion and profession.
I’m fascinated by the engineering of books and have an almost obsessive desire to learn and understand new structures.
I work out of a small studio on the idyllic Scottish island of Iona, (if you’ve never been, I highly recommend it; it is, amongst other things, the birthplace of the Book of Kells) where I’ve lived for ten years now. Iona’s landscape – its natural colours of sand sea and rocks – are a huge inspiration to me.
I am an experienced teacher and am excited to share the joys of bookbinding with you.
