What you'll do

Learn the basics of knitting in this fun and encouraging workshop for absolute beginners, held at Humbug Art in Eccles. Guided step-by-step by Caroline Coates from Creative Coati, you'll learn how to get started with needles and yarn, leaving you feeling confident and inspired.

This practical activity begins with mastering the fundamental knit and purl stitches, along with casting on and off. You'll then progress to understanding garter stitch and stocking stitch while getting comfortable handling the knitting needles – which are yours to keep after the class!

During the workshop, you'll knit a super useful cotton face cloth (or dish cloth). This is an ideal first project to practice your new techniques. Made from 100% cotton, your creation will be soft, machine washable, and reusable – a lovely small step towards reducing waste. You might soon find knitting becomes a favourite relaxing pastime!

You'll leave this session with your completed cotton cloth, your own knitting needles, and the foundational skills to continue your knitting journey at home.
