Beginners Hand Building Mug Workshop

Learn how to make a ceramic mug with me at this clay hand building pottery class in Glasgow.

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 9 guests       £45

Learn how to hand-build your own unique ceramic mug from clay in this engaging and friendly workshop.
This hands-on activity is perfectly suited for individuals new to ceramics, but those with previous clay experience are also very welcome to practise their skills. Over two and a half hours, your expert instructor will guide you through the enjoyable process of creating a beautiful vessel from scratch.
During the class, you will learn:
  • how to prepare your clay and get comfortable with its properties
  • pinching and coiling techniques to build the form of your mug
  • methods for securely joining clay sections and achieving a smooth surface
  • tips for shaping and refining your unique design
All clay, tools, and necessary equipment are provided. You'll even start with a practice ball of clay to get a feel for the material before beginning your final piece.
After the workshop, your instructor will handle the finishing touches, applying a neutral glaze and firing your creation. One piece per person will be fired, with any extra pieces able to be fired for an additional fee. Your finished mug will be ready to collect in approximately four to six weeks, or it can be posted to a UK address for an additional charge.
You’ll leave this session with the pride of having learned a new craft, ready to collect a beautiful, functional mug that is entirely your own creation.
