  • 5/5 from Susan Briggs, attended Sep 2026: I really enjoyed this class and the teacher was excellent. She was so patient and showed us each technique as a group and then spent time with everyone individually. We learned how to start off crochet with the slip knot and chain, and when everyone was ok with that we learned how to do double and treble crochet. I especially liked being given a starter kit of wool and hook so I could come home and practice afterwards (see photo). I would love to attend a follow up class in the future.

  • 5/5 from Helen Clee, attended Jul 2026: A lovely afternoon learning to crochet with Gem. She was very patient and easy to understand and made time for all of the people there. Now it's just practice, practice and then hopefully book onto a 1:1 session for help with a crochet set given as a gift.
  • 5/5 from Carol Holmes, attended May 2026: Great to learn the basics from casting on to make a chain. Double and triple stitches. Explained in a way that was easy to follow but if you got stuck on the stitches they were shown to you. Nice small group so everyone has chance to ask questions and be helped.

  • 5/5 from Fran Schneider, attended Apr 2026: I’ve just finished a crochet class with Gemma and honestly it was such a lovely experience. The group was small, which made a huge difference because she was able to spend time with everyone and give really helpful one on one advice. She explains things in a way that just makes sense, especially if you are completely new to crocheting. I never felt silly for not getting something straight away, she was always happy to go over things again and show it a different way until it clicked. The whole atmosphere of the class was really relaxed and encouraging, which made it so much easier to learn. I came away feeling a lot more confident and actually excited to keep going with it. I would definitely recommend her class to anyone thinking about picking up crochet.

  • 4/5 from Laura Roe, attended Dec 2025: I really enjoyed the class, and Gemma was a lovely teacher. The only reason I haven’t given it five stars is because the room was very cold. It would also be better if the class were held away from shoppers, as the teacher was interrupted.

Gemma is very keen to share her enthusiasm for crochet and she definitely passed it on to me, and, I guess, the other members of the group too. Thank you for a great experience.
