Silly Sculpture introduces KS2 children to the exciting world of ceramics and three-dimensional making.
Children will learn how to transform a simple pinch pot into their own imaginative sculpture — from funny fish and crazy creatures to characters, animals, and mythical beasts.
Along the way, they’ll develop practical ceramics skills including:
  • Hand-building and forming
  • Scoring and slipping
  • Joining and attaching pieces
  • Creating texture and surface detail
  • Developing form and structure
  • Painting and decorating
Children will learn how to think about shape, form, balance, texture, and structure while solving practical problems as they build their sculptures.
Once their pieces have dried, they’ll have the opportunity to return and paint their finished creations. This is a hands-on club that encourages creative problem-solving, fine motor skills, experimentation, and independent thinking — all while getting wonderfully messy with clay!

Art Play London was founded by Silva Castellani in 2018, starting in galleries such as Phillips, and pop up venues around London.
Art Play is now a new art studio which opened in East London in February 2022, where children and adults of all ages are free to release their imaginations and inner creativity.
Art Play has a strong focus and the environment and aims to educate children and adults on their environmental impact through art, using a variety of sustainable mediums and materials.
Art Play is part of the worldwide Precious Plastic community which means it will be a plastic collection point for people to drop off their HDPE plastic which would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. The plastic is then shredding and melted and turned into useful objects and pieces of art, such as plant pots and coasters.
