Ready to swap screen time for a skill they can use for life?
Our Young Makers Sewing Club is a practical, creative sewing programme designed for children and young people aged 8–16, including complete beginners.
Over 16 weeks, participants will gradually build their confidence and sewing skills through hands-on learning with a sewing machine.
They will learn:
  • How a sewing machine works
  • How to thread and operate a sewing machine safely
  • Bobbin winding and troubleshooting
  • Straight stitching and sewing curves
  • Measuring and cutting fabric
  • Understanding seam allowance
  • Different seam finishes
  • Basic construction techniques
  • Working with zips and other sewing techniques
  • How to follow instructions and develop their own creative ideas
  • How to turn their skills into finished, usable projects
Throughout the programme, children will work on age-appropriate sewing projects, allowing them to see their skills develop from week to week.
The programme is designed not just to teach sewing, but to develop confidence, concentration, creativity, independence, and practical problem-solving skills.
By the end of the programme, participants will have created a collection of handmade projects that demonstrate what they have learned.
Perfect for beginners
No previous sewing experience is required.
Whether your child has never touched a sewing machine before, has received one as a gift and wants to learn how to use it, or has already started experimenting with sewing, this programme provides a supportive environment where they can learn at their own pace.
