I have been passionate about fine art, nature, and landscape photography since graduating from university. Over the years, this passion has evolved into running my own commercial photography business, Welly Pictures, which I have successfully managed for the past five years.

Photography for me is about capturing moments in time, and I am dedicated to sharing this passion through teaching. With 13 years of experience in education, including secondary, BTEC, higher education, and adult learning. I focus on equipping students with the technical skills they need to enhance their photography.

A key teaching philosophy of mine is to perfect exposure and composition directly in-camera, minimizing the need for extensive editing. I often emphasize the importance of avoiding unnecessary cropping, famously reminding students: “You can’t polish a turd!” My personal love lies in playing with shutter speeds, creating dynamic images with motion in nature, people, and vehicles.

When working with students, I strive to understand their preferred photography genres and the equipment they use. This personalized approach helps build confidence with their cameras and deepens their knowledge. My goal is to inspire and guide each student to explore their creativity and master their craft.
