  • 5/5 from Jean, attended Jun 2026: Very friendly & welcoming group, all levels of painters & newcomers. Warm, inviting tutor that was very open to questions & went at a steady pace. All materials provided, plus drinks & biscuits. Tutor is very encouraging & gives tips & hints on your style & use of colour. Our project didn’t use any drawing as such and was all done with masking tape & brush strokes. I have never used watercolour before & felt I managed a passable picture. The fox was traced from a projected image, then filled in with ink. I have already booked on the next class.

Hello and welcome! My names Tara and I am the artist and creator behind Hodgepodge
Established in 2014 as a personalised gift shop, I created lots of stunning gifts for many occasions. This is what I did for 6 years, until the time that the world stood still. As lockdown took hold, my main income of attending markets was cut off and I had nothing new to share with the many followers I had gained over the years. It was then I picked up my paintbrush for the first time in over 15 years and began to create. I then shared the artwork I was creating during lockdown and the rest, as they say is history!
Since then I have had my artwork feature multiple times in the OXO Gallery in London and have won both Highly Commended and Finalist categories with my artwork as well as receiving Wildlife Shop of the year in 2023 for my small business which features all my artwork.
The teaching side of my business all started when I began to share videos of my process. As I started sharing more and more, I would hear the same phrase constantly... I wish I could paint like that! It struck a chord with me, as I believed if I could do it then anyone could! It was those comments that pushed me to show people how easy it was to get started. Since that turning point I have been providing tutorial videos via YouTube Facebook and more recently Tiktok Live, as well as providing Letterbox lessons where I send out everything needed to complete a piece as well as offering lessons in person. This year I am so excited to expand my classes and spread the love of the world of watercolours and how amazing it is to be a part of! So whether you're a complete beginner or wanting to expand on your techniques, I can not wait to meet you to get you started!
