Join Hobbycraft Artisan Chrissie Ellson for some festive crochet fun, as each session begins with a lucky dip from the Christmas stocking to reveal which granny square you’ll learn to create!

Perfect for crocheters looking for festive inspiration, or anyone wanting to rediscover the cosy joy of this classic craft, each session will feature a different Christmas-themed granny square design.

Designed for crafters who are comfortable with basic stitches such as double and treble crochet, Chrissie will guide you through the chosen design, sharing plenty of tips, tricks and helpful techniques along the way to help you create your very own festive square.

So grab your favourite festive yarn, settle in with a cuppa and get ready for some Christmas crochet fun!

At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a completed granny square project – as well as all the skills to continue making more! You can then transform the square into a scarf, blanket and more.

For crafters looking to join Granny Square Club regularly, Chrissie will share a free class code to any customer who attends three workshops. Join three, get one free!

*Please note the free session offer  is only available to customers to have completed three Granny Square Club sessions and can only be redeemed on a further Granny Square Club session. This offer is not transferrable to any other workshops and will only be issued once three sessions have been completed.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Anna Barwick, attended Sep 2026: I've recently joined the weekly online granny square crochet club through Hobbycraft and it's been such a lovely addition to my week. Chrissie runs the sessions and she's incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to answer crochet-related questions and offer helpful advice as everyone works on the square she's picked out for that week. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and everyone in the group is lovely, which makes it feel like a real community rather than just a class. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn or improve their crochet in a supportive, welcoming setting.
