One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

The Hobbycraft instructor was very good and helpful and answered all my queries. I was a bit nervous, but I really enjoyed the workshop. I came away from the session will a little more confidence and I learned some good tips. I will now practice what I learned and hopefully this will get me going on my sewing journey. If I need help in the future I will certainly book another session. Thank you.

  • 5/5 from Diane Shaw, attended Mar 2023: The lady (June) who showed me how to use my new sewing machine to its best advantage was excellent. I can’t wait to get started at home. But anything I need in the future I will certainly look for June in store. Thank you - excellent
  • 3/5 from Katie Sykes, attended Mar 2023: The lesson was Ok but the instructor was grumpy and the first 15 minutes were really awkward.
  • 5/5 from Dawn Crabtree, attended Feb 2023: Had a 1-2-1 with Jan at the Guiseley store on Friday. I bought my machine at the store previously and asked if they could fit me in for a 1-2-1 at short notice which Becky arranged for me there and then to attend the following day. Jan was all prepared with the exact machine I had purchased. I managed to park right outside and there was a lift to the floor where the workshop was being held. I thoroughly enjoyed the tutorial. I was shown and guided to do everything from scratch. Jan showed me what to do and then I did the same tasks by myself. Jan was very practical, enthusiastic and was able to answer every question I asked. She even gave me practical solutions to little problems I had been having with my sewing projects. This workshop was great value for money. I will definitely be booking another as my skills improve. I was confident enough to go straight home and unbox my machine. I made a simple scrunchie as my first project. Looking forward to doing much more. Dawn Crabtree
