Upcycle Your Knits with Needle Felting Workshop

Brand new for 2026! On Thursday 12th February 7-9pm come and learn a new skill at this fun and relaxed introduction to needle felting at Corner Coffee Co. Just in time for Galentine’s Day, grab some friends and learn something new. Bring along any hats, scarves, jumpers and cardigans that need a bit of love and we’ll needle felt some cool designs onto them to breathe new life into them. This is a perfect way to learn visible mending techniques and make your wardrobe more sustainable by using what we already have.I’ll teach you the basics of needle felting to add pieces of wool roving onto your piece of clothing, this technique is perfect if you have any small holes or snags that need mending, the wool will cover them up!Needle felting involves using a sharp barbed needle to repeatedly poke wool fibres into the knitted item (with a piece of foam underneath) to interlock and mat them together so the embellishment becomes part of the piece. We will then wet felt the embellishment to remove any needle marks and further mat it into the piece. The session will last two hours and you can create as many designs as you like in that time, on multiple pieces. I’ll do a demonstration first and then I’ll be on hand to guide you through the process. I have a whole rainbow of wool roving to use and i’ll have some cookie cutters that can be used as a guide to create shapes, or just go free hand!I will provide the needle felting equipment, you just need to bring along the item (or items!) you’d like to decorate! Rummage through your drawers at home, have a look at local charity shops or take a look on Vinted. The only stipulation is that the item is knitted (it doesn’t have to be 100% wool), a cotton sweatshirt or t-shirt won’t work for example. Acrylic and polyester knits are absolutely fine for this craft too, please do message me with pictures of your pieces or bring multiples along and we can take a look on the night. A glass of Prosecco is included in the cost of the ticket and extra hot and cold drinks are available to purchase on the night. All needle felting materials are provided on the night for you to use.
