Make your own stained glass panel using traditional techniques. This two-day workshop will support your development in stained glass, whether you're a complete beginner or have attended an introductory workshop before. We will go over the basics of working with glass, learning how to score and break it efficiently to a pattern.
There will be a number of patterns to pick from on the day, or you can bring your own. If you bring your own, please ensure it is no larger than A3 in size, consisting of up to 15 pieces, or alternatively, draw out a couple of smaller designs to make. You can also come with an idea, and I can help you translate it onto paper for your design.
We will then move on to working with lead, stretching and cutting it to build your panel together, securing it through soldering, and finally cementing your panel to ensure it is weatherproof. You will leave with more knowledge about stained glass and an original handmade stained glass panel!
Requirements: You must have good use of your hands and be able to stand for periods of time.
What you'll get

April is passionate about all techniques in glass. She became captivated by its luminosity, jewel like radiance and ability to cast shadows of colour. Her own creative practise involves traditional stained glass techniques and warm glass techniques such as fusing. Her work is inspired by nature, folkloric stories and aims to bring about beauty through light.
April teaches in her workshop at Rock Farm in Shepton Mallet. She has also trained as a Stained Glass Conservator at Holywell Glass in Wells and ran therapeutic art sessions for the Charity One25. Her approach to learning is to encourage and problem solve. Being dyslexic herself she understands that repetition and clear instructions are important to help learners get the most from her workshops. Her main aim is for her students to have fun, gain some confidence in a craft and leave with something uniquely beautiful.
