Knowledge required
Beginners are welcome. Traditional lampshade making involves a lot of hand sewing, so please be aware of this.
What to bring
- Please bring your own fabric - 1m fabric plus matching thread if possible.
- We will have a 45-minute break for lunch, therefore please bring some lunch along, or there are cafes at Fiveways which is a 10-minute walk away.

- 5/5 from Jill, attended Sep 2025: This class was great fun and, unexpectedly as it was a first attempt, the whole class came away with pretty and useable lampshades. The studio is double aspect so it is full of light, which helps, and there is plenty of space to work. Jo is an excellent teacher. She drip feeds clear explanations and demonstrations then lets you get on with it without seeming to hover yet is is always magically there when you start to go wrong. She also creates a friedly, relaxed atmosphere so it would be a good class for a celebration such as a hen party. I came away full of enthsiasm for making my own lampshades and will take the drum lampshade class next year. Thank you Jo
