Learn how to paint with watercolours at this fun painting class for beginners. Pick up a brush and let experienced artist John Horton guide you through this colourful and creative world.

This full-day art workshop focuses on painting a wintry scene looking towards Malvern. Learn some top painting techniques to keep this hobby going and take your beautiful landscape home with you for inspiration!

Unwind in a supportive atmosphere with a small group of four other budding artists. You'll start with tea, coffee, and chat before rolling up your sleeves for a painting session in the welcoming studio. Art supplies are provided, plus a light lunch!

You will learn how to paint with watercolours, tips on laying down a succession of washes, and wet-into-wet techniques. John will start by setting out a composition, and then everyone in the group will paint the same art piece, stage by stage.

Experiment with a limited palette of three colours, and finish off the painting with contrast, shadows, and tone adjustment to bring it to life.

I have always held a great passion for the natural history world. This is reflected in my work as well as being an active member of The Wildlife Art Society International. I am pleased to have won many awards, such as the Christopher Parsons Award for artistic excellence in 2003, 2010, and 2011 at their annual exhibition held at Nature in Art, Twigworth, Gloucestershire. More recently in 2016, I won the Two Rivers Sketchbook prize at the Association of Animal Artists annual exhibition.

In my classes, I hope to share some of the skills and techniques that I have developed over many years.
