2 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests       £35 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this engaging workshop, you'll learn how to create an array of beautiful home accessories, including coasters, bowls, placemats, and decorations, using an innovative coiled technique on a sewing machine. You'll master the art of transforming simple cotton cord into unique, personalised pieces that reflect your individual style and creativity.
Feeling a bit apprehensive about using a sewing machine in an unconventional way? Don't fret! While the technique might seem a bit fiddly at first, you'll quickly find your rhythm and discover how enjoyable and satisfying this craft can be. Basic sewing machine knowledge is needed, but you'll be amazed at how quickly you progress from novice to confident creator.
The process of coiling and stitching can be wonderfully absorbing, allowing you to lose yourself in the rhythmic motion of the machine and the gradual emergence of your creation. You might be surprised by how swiftly you can produce a finished piece, making this technique both gratifying and efficient.
This workshop offers a chance to expand your crafting repertoire and unleash your artistic flair in a new medium. As you watch your coiled creations take shape, you'll likely feel a sense of accomplishment and joy. The items you craft won't just be functional – they'll be unique expressions of your creativity, adding a personal touch to your home or making thoughtful, handmade gifts for loved ones.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.
I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!
I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
