I am a textile enthusiast with over 20 years experience working with a wide range of textile arts. I am particularly interested in historical techniques and love learning about their origins and social contexts. I enjoy taking inspiration from traditional textiles and applying 'old' techniques to my own modern designs.

Originally trained as a biologist, I am constantly inspired the natural world and aim to make my artistic practice as sustainable as possible, using mostly natural and upcycled materials.

I truly believe that textiles are a fundamental part of human culture and experience - they are EVERYWHERE. So much so that we often forget about them, dismiss them and undervalue them. They are thought of as ‘domestic’, ‘feminine’ and ‘old-fashioned’. I would love to change this image! To show that textiles are for everyone. Absolutely anyone can sew, knit, crochet, weave, spin, dye. And the work that they produce can be just as awe-inspiring, thought-provoking and beautiful as any other medium. Not to mention the benefits for mental health and wellbeing!
