Hand-Kneading
We will knead the dough by hand. This is a dense, low-hydration dough, expect some muscle work to build that essential bagel strength!
Shaping
I will show you how to make dough balls and you will be able to practice on your own dough
Punch the Hole
I will teach you how to give those bagels the perfect doughnut shape
Make the Doughnut
This is a very hands-on process where using your fingers you will be able to give those bagels the perfect shape
Boiling
I will show you how to boil the bagels
Toppings
We will have then have fun adding toppings of your choice
Bake and Taste
We will bake the bagels and taste them fresh out of the oven
- Levain and maintenance – Learn about the sourdough starter used for sweet and mild baking and how to maintain it.
- Hand-kneading – Knead the dough by hand to build essential bagel strength; it's a low-hydration dough, so you'll get a bit of a workout.
- Shaping – Master the technique of shaping and "punching the hole" – easily the most satisfying part of the day.
- Toppings and baking – Experiment with different toppings before boiling and baking your creations to perfection.
- Known allergens: Our recipes and kitchen environment contain wheat (gluten) and sesame seeds.
- Pet allergens: We share our home with cats. While the kitchen is a strictly pet-free zone and is deep-cleaned and sanitised before every class, we cannot guarantee the environment is 100% free of pet dander or other allergens.
- Domestic kitchen policy: As this is a domestic kitchen, we cannot guarantee the total absence of cross-contact with other major allergens.
- Policy on allergies: Due to the nature of our home-based environment, this class is not suitable for individuals with severe or life-threatening food or pet allergies. Please ensure you are comfortable with this before attending.
