My StoryI’m Sonya Parra, a London-based live event illustrator and fashion artist. I’ve been a freelance illustrator since 2001, and for the past 15 years I’ve specialised in fashion illustration, creating live artwork for luxury brands, corporate events and special occasions.My journey has taken me from fine art and design into the fast-paced world of live illustration, where I create portraits in just a few minutes. I’ve worked with internationally recognised brands including Dolce & Gabbana and Samsung, bringing fashion drawing and personalised artwork to events, retail experiences and brand activations.Why I Love Sharing IllustrationI believe drawing should be an enjoyable experience, not something people feel they have to be naturally talented at. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already enjoy sketching, exploring fashion illustration is a wonderful way to develop your creativity, experiment with line and shape, and discover your own artistic style.I love the moment when someone realises they can create something they’re proud of. My approach is relaxed and encouraging, helping people enjoy the process rather than worry about making every line perfect. Creative workshops can be a lovely way to spend time with friends, try something new or enjoy a different kind of group activity.What Makes My Approach Different?More than 25 years as an events artist has taught me to capture the essential character of a person or outfit with just a few carefully chosen lines. Live fashion illustration is about observation, confidence and learning to simplify what you see — skills that anyone can begin to explore.My background combines professional illustration with formal art and design education. I hold an MA in Fine Art with Distinction from De Montfort University, alongside a qualification in Theatre Set Design and Model Animation.Whether you’re discovering fashion drawing for the first time or looking for a creative experience in London, I want you to leave feeling inspired, more confident in your creativity and excited to keep drawing.
