Hi, I'm Sithee, the calligrapher and stationery designer behind Design by Amara.My journey with calligraphy began with a fascination for slowing down and creating something by hand in a world that often feels rushed. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a passion for preserving meaningful moments through beautifully crafted lettering. I've now been practising calligraphy for over eight years, continually developing my skills through specialist courses in a wide range of calligraphy styles, from modern pointed pen to traditional scripts. Over the years, that passion has grown into a business creating luxury wedding stationery, live event calligraphy and bespoke commissions for both private and corporate clients.I love teaching because calligraphy is one of those rare skills that encourages you to slow down, be present and enjoy the process rather than chase perfection. Watching someone go from believing they "have terrible handwriting" to creating something they're genuinely proud of is incredibly rewarding. My workshops are relaxed, welcoming and designed to give you the confidence to continue practising long after the class ends.I've taught a wide variety of workshops, from festive Christmas bauble calligraphy classes to luxury bridal Sip & Ink experiences. I also host private events including hen parties, birthday celebrations and creative get-togethers, tailoring each session to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for every group.Alongside teaching, I've had the privilege of working on a wide range of commissions, from luxury wedding invitations and on-the-day stationery to corporate calligraphy campaigns and historical commissions. I've also worked with commercial print partners on large-scale handwritten campaigns, demonstrating that calligraphy still has a powerful place in today's world.My work combines traditional techniques with contemporary design, drawing inspiration from architecture, nature and cultural heritage. I particularly love showing people that calligraphy isn't just about writing names beautifully – it's a mindful, creative skill that can be used for everything from wedding stationery and personalised gifts to home décor and fine art.Whether you're picking up a dip pen for the very first time or looking to develop your lettering skills, I'd love to help you discover just how enjoyable and rewarding calligraphy can be.
