Hi, I am a professional artist and qualified teacher in art and design: BA, MFA, PGCE, PhD. I have taught in schools, colleges, universities, adult education centers, nurseries, and community halls. I started We Are Sew Social after teaching textiles in a secondary school for a couple of years. My Nan was a seamstress and has always been my inspiration. She ran an upholstery business with my uncle, and I always wanted to recreate her fantastic shop that was always filled with people making and the community it brought with it. I first trained in sculpture and made 3D textile works during my degree. I have won awards, exhibited nationally and internationally as a fine artist, and have recently completed a PhD in drawing, but I am now drawn to textiles in my practice once more. I work out of my studio in Loughborough, where I offer a range of workshops in hand and machine-sewn textiles, but currently run Sip 'n' Stitch embroidery nights at venues in the East Midlands. If you would like to book or host one of my classes, or if you have an idea that involves creating hand sewing, please contact me for a chat to create your bespoke event.
