Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Joanna Samantha Kendal, attended Oct 2024: A first class hour with a first class tutor. Venue more than satisfactory and welcoming. My tutor could not do enough from the outset; nothing was too much trouble. I really enjoyed the time there because the tutor made me welcome, was genuinely interested in helping me and really good company. Hobbycraft are lucky to have her on their team. She answered all my questions and explained everything clearly with a willingness to go the extra mile. I honestly dont think I could have found a better tutor and nor indeed a welcome. Because of this I would not hesitate to book further workshops.

Barbara gave me instructions when I purchased it, which were really helpful. Looking on hobby craft website I saw that i could have a one to one lesson, so I promptly booked it. This morning Linda went through everything with me. Threading the machine, which I had done wrong at home. She showed how to do all the different stitches which gave me lots more confidence. I want to book another lesson with her.

Thank you so much once again! :)
  • 5/5 from Sylvia, attended Mar 2024: Linda was extremely knowledgeable and explained things very clearly. As an absolute beginner sewer she never made me feel like my questions were obvious or silly. She took time to make sure I had understood her explanation and then made other suggestions on what I might need to know. I had initially wanted help on reading dress making patterns, which she gave, but she also advised on my particular sewing machine and particular stitches to use for different parts of a project. The venue at Chesterfield was spacious, and we were able spread patterns out and see things easily. I am now confident to go and give it a go.

  • 5/5 from Ian Sanderson, attended Nov 2023: Barbara the tutor was excellent, providing hands on tuition, exactly what I needed to learn about my new sewing machine. Well worth the money for an hours tuition. I would highly recommend this type of course at the Chesterfield branch.
  • 5/5 from Carole Parker, attended Oct 2023: I thoroughly enjoyed my one to one with a lovely lady called Barbara. I am very much a novice and she was patient, kind & knowledgeable. • 5/5 from Bevrley Taylor, attended Jul 2023: Hi, Im a beginner sewer. Barbara the teacher from Hobbycraft was excellent and made me feel very calm. She taught me all the basics for the workshop course. I would definitely use Hobbycraft again to learn another task. Its well worth it. Cant wait to make another bag.
  • 5/5 from Jane Johnson, attended Apr 2023: Learnt so much in hour. Thank you Linda. Will definitely book again when I need to move on.
  • 5/5 from Sandra Kirkby, attended Mar 2023: My teacher was very easy to understand and she took her time to help me learn everything I needed to learn it was easier than I thought it would be and I also had fun and made a little pouch using corners and tried various stitches and helped me understand all the dials and switches and the needle sizes for different materials would definitely recommend this class for anyone starting out at sewing especially on one of your machines. I would like further tutelage on making something on the sewing machine like a pencil case with a zipper or a phone wallet or something similar and maybe also making clothes eventually from a pattern would be good.
