One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Nicole Groves, attended Sep 2026: Debbie was very patient and explained everything I needed to get going on my machine. Although the lesson wasn't on the machine I'd bought, she explained the similarities and at the end of the lesson went through the steps on the machine I have. I would definitely recommend this one-to-one as a great starting point for your sewing adventure.
  • 5/5 from Fong Yau, attended Sep 2026: I learnt so much about my machine and raring to start using it on my own. I was able to tailor the class to my needs and I will 100% recommend this.
  • 5/5 from Melissa Proctor, attended Sep 2026: I booked this workshop with Debbie as I needed some help in using my sewing machine. I have several years of experience of using a very basic machine but have struggled to use my new digital machine. I met her in store when shopping and she said she could help me to trouble shoot my difficulties in a one to one session. I did not know that I could actually book to have help specifically with using my own machine. Debbie was very approachable, instantly putting me at ease and her expertise was boundless and she was able to demonstrate how different aspects of my machine worked and helped me to gain my confidence in using my machine again.
  • 4/5 from Sheila Martin, attended Apr 2026: It was great having a one to one, plenty of time to ask questions, re-do what I was unsure about. I left feeling inspired to get my machine out and start to play. My only small gripe was that the area felt quite cramped, people were walking past chatting (with not a lot of room) and one gentleman decided to interrupt us to ask questions about glue. I would have preferred an area tucked away. Having said that I would go back for further lesson
