Saturday Morning Art Class

Join this nature-inspired painting workshop in Bath and spend a relaxed morning around the kitchen table, turning what you notice in the landscape into expressive drawings and paintings.Each session takes its cue from the seasons and the plants growing in local hedgerows, woodlands and meadows. You'll learn to pick out the shapes, colours and textures in the natural world, then paint them on canvas in your own intuitive way. Spending the morning looking closely at nature is a lovely way to feel more connected to it, and the sessions are shaped around finding hope for the environment too.You'll start with drawing before moving on to a fluid medium such as acrylic, ink or watercolour. Your teacher will share the work of an artist for inspiration and demonstrate each set task, introducing techniques gently so the session stays relaxed and you can keep practising at home. The group is small and friendly, with plenty of freedom to experiment and take creative risks, and there's a tea and coffee break halfway through.The workshop runs monthly with a new theme each time, so no two sessions are the same. You're welcome to come to as many or as few as you like, though two or more lets you build on what you've learned.Whether you've painted before or you'd like some regular encouragement, you'll grow more confident in your own style.
