Roman Mosaic Coaster Craft Café

Create your own Roman-style mosaic coaster in a relaxed, family-friendly creative café experience inspired by the Roman heritage of the Falkirk area. Using traditional marble mosaic tiles, you’ll create your own unique coaster in the welcoming surroundings of Studio 164.You’ll also enjoy a speciality coffee or tea – choose from cappuccino, latte, matcha, hot chocolate, and more! We’ll also have diluted juice or hot chocolate for children. Plus, we’ll have a homemade traybake or a Tunnock’s Scottish sweet treat to choose from. One drink and one snack are included in the price, with additional refreshments available to purchase on the day.This session is a self-led creative experience, not a taught workshop. We provide a curated selection of materials, designs, and simple step-by-step guidance, allowing you to create at your own pace while enjoying time in the studio. You can use one of our designs or create your own.Rhona Duffy will be on hand throughout to offer friendly help and answer questions, but there is no structured teaching during the session. If you would prefer a more in-depth learning experience, we also offer fully taught mosaic workshops at Studio 164.Adults can also have a go at using traditional mosaic tools, including the hammer and hardie, and discover how mosaic materials have been shaped for centuries. Children can enjoy Roman and Falkirk-inspired colouring and activity sheets if they have time after finishing their mosaic.At the end of the session, your mosaic will be left to dry in the studio. We’ll grout and finish your coaster for you, and it will be ready to collect a couple of days later. We can also post your finished coaster to you for a small additional charge. We’ll provide aftercare information, so you can enjoy using your handcrafted coaster for years to come.Children are welcome with paying adults, and mosaic coasters are suitable for ages 6+.A small shop is also available at Studio 164, featuring garden mosaics by founder Rhona Duffy, along with mosaic kits, greeting cards, and prints.This is a great option for parties, team building, and group experiences – contact us to find out more.
