Sift through inspiration

Sift Through Inspiration

The workshop will begin with an introduction to the rich history of the lost wax casting process and how it is done in our studio. We will then spend some time looking through a selection of rings in all styles, shapes and textures to begin brainstorming your idea. There will also be books, gemstones and plenty to draw inspiration from!

Discuss your idea(s) and design

Discuss Your Idea (s) and Design

Natasha will individually discuss the ideas and designs you have in mind, and give you right jewellers wax to create it. In addition to the typically hard wax for carving there is also soft wax, sheet wax and wax wire to help create your specific design!

Sketching your unique design

Sketching Your Unique Design

You'll start by determining your ring size and thinking about the depth and width of your ring design. From there you will sketch out a rough blueprint to follow when carving your design.

Carve, sculpt, melt and shape your custom design

Carve, Sculpt, Melt and Shape Your Custom Design

You’ll be guided step-by-step through the wax carving process. First by sizing your wax accordingly, then by applying your design to the wax. I do tailer a portion of the workshop to each individual's design, but will also cover all the different methods and techniques used in wax carving for lost wax casting.

Add the finishing touches

Add the Finishing Touches

In the last stage of the workshop, you can smooth out any imperfections, add engraving, discuss the finish (matte, shiny or in between) and add any gemstones or oxidisation to your ring!

Ring casting after class

Ring Casting After Class

Once the workshop is complete your wax ring model will be prepared for casting and cast in our studio. The full casting process takes around 15 hours, and is documented and shared on our instagram stories! You can watch the journey of your ring from the casting investment to the final polishing finishes! The turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks for silver pieces. Solid gold requires extra time for hallmarking and gold vermeil requires up to two additional weeks for plating in Hatton Garden.

In this 2.5 hour hands-on workshop you will learn all the skills required to design and create your own bespoke ring using ancient wax carving techniques!
This workshop is the perfect opportunity to free your mind, get creative and connect with other like-minded people whilst making a special heirloom.
You'll be guided each step of the way by jeweller, Natasha Kutrovacz of Anonoma Jewellery. Natasha trained in NYC and creates custom jewellery for film and TV, alongside her own designs. The workshop is kept small so you will also receive 1:1 guidance on how to create your specific design.
No need to come with a design in mind, the creative process will allow some time to brainstorm with inspiring materials to help you come up with your very own and unique piece of jewellery.
All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. However, if you would like to deepen your existing skill set, that is possible too. The techniques in wax carving and what you can create in wax are endless! I will tailer a portion of the workshop to each individual's design, but will also cover all the different methods and techniques used in wax carving for lost wax casting.
There will be some exciting optional upgrades available in-class, including gemstone setting, gold plating or engraving to make your ring even more special (available for pre-purchase or to add on the day).
By the end of the class, your piece will be completed, ready for casting. The casting, finishing and polishing takes about 2-3 weeks. If you have opted for gold plating this will take an additional 5-7 working days.

Hello! Thanks for taking a moment to read about my journey into jewellery making! Jewellery has been my second career after working in the costume department for film and tv. It started as a hobby between jobs and became a serious passion turned side hustle after I took a training course in Wax Carving for lost wax carving in 2015. Not only did I fall in love with the endless limits of creativity in this method of jewellery making, but I enjoyed the therapeutic and meditative qualities of the process.
I am the designer/founder of Anonoma Jewellery and keep a foot in the film world by making custom pieces when needed. I've been fortunate to make jewellery for The Crown, The Rings of Power, House of Dragons, Death On the Nile just to name a few.
In 2020, I created a Ring Making Kit with an at-home guide and series of wax carving tutorials so that I could share this passion of mine with others during lockdown. Following the success and fun that came from the kits, I decided to start teaching workshops! I love introducing this unique, ancient craft to others because I believe creativity is good for the soul, and it gives you the opportunity to create something truly special that you can wear for your whole life and even pass down!
I look forward to meeting you and having some wax carving fun!
