Whether you are an intermediate or an experienced sewer, our sewing machines are perfect for all your creative projects.
Our sewing machines and overlocker are top-of-the-line models, designed to make your sewing experience easy and enjoyable. They come with a variety of features, including different stitch patterns, adjustable speeds, one step button holes and automatic threading, making them ideal for both simple tasks and more complex projects. All sewing tools, cutting equipment and thread are provided too.
Renting a sewing machine from us is not only cost-effective but also convenient. You don't have to worry about the hassle of purchasing and maintaining a sewing machine, as we take care of all that for you. You will have the chance to sew at your leisure, pace and within a creative space. Any further help may need a private sewing class booked.

What you'll get
  • You will be provided with a sewing machine with all the tools to use it.
  • There is an overlocker with cone threads to use. There are fewer colour choices with these, though.
  • There is also an iron to use and small cutting table. Please let me know if you require a larger table to cut so that I can ensure I am not using it.
  • I can not provide any help so please book a sewing class if you will need help prior.
Knowledge required
Intermediate and advanced sewers would be best suited for this, as it ensures that you can sew independently.
You will not get help during these sessions.
What to bring
Please bring your own thread and cloth to use, if you wish to colour match.

My name is Claire and I am The Ethical Tailor. I am the founder of Moxie Craft sewing skills and Couchman Bespoke an ethical tailors based in Canning Town. I grew up in Harlow, Essex with a creative mother and an entrepreneur father. After gaining a BA(Hons) degree in clothing design and tailoring from Brighton University, I ventured into the world and set up my company to combat the inequalities of the fashion industry I had been subject to.
By creating zero waste through pattern cutting, natural dyeing and sourcing the most sustainable cloth and haberdashery we aim to have very little negative impact on the planet and local people.
Now with 20 years of retail knowledge and 18 years of tailoring experience and 6 years of teaching behind me, I feel confident in my ability to produce clothing that is timeless. Clothing construction is a great passion of mine that sits juxtaposed with a strong interest in the environmental impact of the clothing and textile industry. I aim to be a contributing factor in helping to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry whilst educating people about the issue through my workshops and trading fairly within the supply chain.
