4.5 hours

Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 4 to 16
£60 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Please note that although this workshop is suitable for beginners, we won't be showing you how to sew, wind a bobbin, or thread a machine. It's important that you can do these independently.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
Come along to our fully equipped professional design studio and have a lovely time among like-minded stitchers. The studio has everything you need—bring your own machine or work on one of ours. You can make your zippy bag from reused fabrics such as kids' duvets, tablecloths, or curtains. Please make sure your fabric is pre-washed beforehand. If you can't find any fabric you like, don't worry, we have a small range of printed cottons you can buy at cost price.
  • We'll have a look at examples of zippies so that you can decide your size and if you'd like to adapt some of the features.
  • We will supply the pattern, the wadding, and the zip.
  • We'll have a tutorial about how to work with the wadding (this is the padding that makes the zippie squishy!).
  • You'll be shown how to make the simple quilted surface and how to insert the zip.
  • You'll be given a worksheet for extra support and to take home.
The simple pattern allows you to make these in any size, so they make a perfect gift for someone you know.

A sense of pride and achievement
Knowledge required

The Stitch and Make studio sits in the heart of Northampton boot and shoe quarter. It is on the top floor of this remarkable Victorian building that youll find Abi's studio.
In a freelance career spanning 4 decades Abi has traveled the world as a costume supervisor, worked back stage with Rod Stewart, Pink, The Stereophonics and Smashing Pumpkins to name just a few as well as designing and making costumes for production companies.
At home in her studio she designs, pattern cuts and makes a range of one off pieces from old and repurposed fabrics. Often featuring surface design and hand embroidery these are sold at customer facing textile fairs such as Selvedge, Compton Verney and Sunnybank Mills.
Abi is an advocate of the slow fashion movement
