In this engaging workshop, you'll learn how to create your own vibrant punch needle artwork, exploring a wide array of colours and textures. You'll start by practising with four different types of punch needle tools and fabrics, allowing you to find the perfect combination that suits your style. Once you've mastered the basics, you'll progress to a larger piece, armed with a solid understanding of the technique.
Feeling a bit uncertain about trying a new craft? Don't worry! This workshop is designed to build your confidence step by step. By experimenting with various tools and fabrics, you'll quickly discover which combination feels most comfortable and produces the results you love. The gradual progression from practice to a larger piece ensures you'll feel at ease as your skills develop.
The rhythmic process of punch needling can be wonderfully soothing, allowing you to lose yourself in the repetitive motions as your artwork gradually takes shape. You might be surprised by how quickly you become absorbed in choosing colours and creating textures, watching your design come to life stitch by stitch.
And if you find yourself captivated by this craft, you'll have the opportunity to purchase tools to continue your punch needle journey at home, ensuring your newfound skills can flourish long after the workshop ends.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.
All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.
I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!
I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
