Discover how to make your own fabrics and textiles in this workshop in the Cotswolds, designed to give you the confidence to experiment and learn fun new skills. Set in a relaxed, welcoming environment, this is a hands-on day of exploration where you’ll learn a wide range of surface design techniques.
This workshop is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. Everything is taught step by step, with plenty of time to try things out and follow your curiosity. You’ll be encouraged to experiment freely and develop designs that you love!
What to expect:
  • Create colour block backgrounds and painterly washes using fabric paints.
  • Print with hand-carved Indian blocks, including repeat and border designs.
  • Explore 3D appliqué and layered print techniques for added texture.
  • Using everyday household items to make unexpected and interesting marks.
  • Create simple botanical prints with flowers and leaves.
  • Produce multiple fabric samples to take home.
  • Print two tote bags in your favourite style once you’ve explored the techniques.
By the end of the day, you’ll have a collection of unique printed fabrics, a pair of finished tote bags, and a toolkit of techniques you can use again and again for future projects.

A passionate treasure seeker since rummaging at jumble sales with her Gran, Jennie’s crafting projects often have a quirky and upcycled twist.
After enjoying a highly successful career in the music industry, theatre and event management, Jennie returned to the hands-on aspect of her creative side. Studying 3D Design at college, she has rekindled that passion, developing craft projects with an emphasis on reusing and recycling.
Jennie is a winner of multiple business awards for innovation and for contribution to her local community, including a prestigious Women in Business Award.
Craft Workshops and events take place at her home in the glorious Cotswolds and around the UK. She also teaches at and for Cirencester College.
As a member of the prestigious Supercraft Cruises team, Jennie can regularly be found teaching on selected cruise lines. You can also find Jennie at national craft events, including The Creative Craft Show at the NEC, Birmingham.
Jennie is co-founder of Crafter’s Retreats and also Crochet Weekends, hosting one and two day craft events in Wiltshire and beyond.
