In this pottery workshop, you will immerse yourself in the art of pottery-making and learn the essential skills needed to create your very own impression platter. Discover the therapeutic benefits of working with clay as you shape and mould it into a beautiful masterpiece.
Don’t worry if you’re new to pottery – Sarah has over ten years' experience and will guide you every step of the way, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for you to explore your creativity. You’ll learn how to work with the materials, techniques, and tools involved in pottery-making, gaining confidence with each step.
Free your senses! Working with a selection of herbs and foliage, you will press into rolled out clay to make decorative patterns in a large platter and mould it to shape a dish, bowl, or platter.
Relax into the creative process as you allow the beautiful aromas and scents from the herbs and plants to release into the atmosphere as you work, releasing them from the clay to leave enriching and delicate surface texture. These can be painted with colour slips (liquid clay) or coloured glazes, which, when the foliage is removed, reveals the delicate patterns of the herbs.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll be amazed at how fulfilling and rewarding the experience can be. You’ll be able to collect your pieces at a later date after they have been dried and fired to a high standard by Sarah Core Arts Studio.
