Potters Wheel Experience

A taster session on the pottery wheel

45 mins Location Saltford Class size 1 to 3 guests   £40

In this relaxed 45-minute wheel throwing class, you’ll learn how to make a pot on the pottery wheel with clear, step-by-step guidance throughout. You can make up to two pots and choose your favourite to keep, giving you the chance to enjoy this hands-on activity without needing any previous experience.
Held in my riverside pottery studio, the workshop is designed to help you feel comfortable and supported as you learn the basics of wheel throwing. You’ll be shown how to prepare the clay, centre it on the wheel and shape it into your own pot. There’s no need to worry about getting everything perfect – you’ll be guided through each stage, and the process is as much about enjoying the experience as it is about the finished piece.
During the class, you will:
  • Spend 45 minutes working on the pottery wheel.
  • Receive step-by-step guidance on how to make a pot on the wheel.
  • Make up to two pots and pick your favourite one to keep.
  • Choose a glaze for me to add to your pot.
Alternatively, you can add an extra hour after the class to stay and decorate your own pot. This gives you more time to personalise your piece and enjoy the creative process at your own pace.
Your chosen pot will be glazed and fired after the workshop, ready for you to collect 2–4 weeks after the class. You’ll leave with the satisfaction of having learnt how to make something by hand, as well as a unique piece of pottery to take home and treasure.
